The middle east was on the path to peaceful stabilization and peaked in the 60s/70s. Iran was honestly a very beautiful nation. But of course the CIA couldn't have that, because then the vast oil fields would have to be bartered for with a democratic society. So they undermined everything, riled up the communists and religious extremists to overthrow the government, and decimated everything just so they could mine that shit for cheap.
