My country banned the operation of asylums and sanatoriums some time ago and the consequences have been devastating. Parents of severely disabled children, especially those with profound autism, are now unable to live their lives with even a semblance of normalcy.
There have been cases of parents being arrested for chaining their children to beds or confining them in makeshift cells, out of desperation to prevent them from harming themselves or others in the household. The media treat them like theyre monsters when it was the media itself that pressured the closing of the asylums
