Why are you assuming the hypothetical drops Roy into FE5 as-is, with no contextual changes? Obviously, in the hypothetical, one should infer that Roy is able to do the things he can normally do in his game, except in FE5 now - offer support to many allies, for instance. This is something all lords can do, it's a given.
Light Sword is overrated as shit. It's good because it's basically free, but it's not even better at killing things than Eyvel's fire sword, of which you can obtain multiple replicas throughout the game. It typically breaks in early Munster and you don't repair it because there are more worth candidates.

At the end of the day, I'm making a broader point about how these games are -balanced-. Roy feels good in FE5 because FE5 is much kinder to low-bases growth units with his essential unit characteristics (swordlord); meanwhile Leif would blow in FE6, same as Roy. I'm attacking the idea that Roy being a piece of shit is "good design." Leif isn't broken, but he's still well designed. Because FE5 is a much better balanced game than FE6. Don't ever take balancing lessons from FE6.
