I have many ideas, but here's probably the most important ones:
>Gym leaders, Elite Four, and wild Pokemon scale with the player's average team level
>Wild Pokemon have a minimum level of 1 and a maximum level of 50
>Wild Pokemon naturally evolve and learn their level-up moves
>You cannot, for example, run into a level 50 Pidgey, nor a level 1 Pidgeotto due to this
>Gym leader Pokemon have a minimum level of 10, so you can't cheese with level 1 'mons
>Gym leader Pokemon also use TM moves, but only STAB TMs
>Gyms can be played out of order. HM moves are tied to certain gym badges
>Choosing to go to one gym over another opens up different parts of the world on player's choice
>Gyms 1-2 have 2 'mons, 3-4 have 3 'mons, 5-6 have 4 'mons, and 7-8 have 5 'mons
>Elite Four teams have a minimum Pokemon level of 50, and use 6 'mons each
>You can earn 8 gym badges using teams of level 10 Pokemon, but they won't get you thru E4
>Elite Four Pokemon can use TM moves, even outside of STAB moves
>Beating the Champion allows the player to re-challenge Gym leaders
>Gym leaders after 1st Elite Four clear now have a team level minimum of 50 and 6 'mon teams
>Gym leaders, Elite Four members, and former Champion have access to all TMs and held items
>Elite Four members and the former Champion now have perfect IV/EV teams
>Players use the Safari Zone to name an environment and level range to catch 'mons
>Safari Zone is used to complete the Pokedex once the player's team outpaces low-level 'mons
