It's not commensurate with the premium it carries over the 7800X3D since prices came back down from the spring, and especially with discounted/tray 7800X3Ds on sale between now and Black Friday.

In gaming they are about the same and in all-core workloads the 7800X3D is a bit cooler which makes sense as it boosts to only 5Ghz rather than the 5.3 Ghz the 9800X3D can because of the changes to the VCache die sandwich. Also the 9800X3D has slightly higher power consumption to boot. See:
