Why does the ONLY cinematic version of Batman HAVE to be grimdark or drab faux-realism? Why can there not be a lighter take as well or one that embraces more fantastical comic book elements? You have grimdark in The Batman. Let the DCU version be a take more like Batman The Animated Series where you can have your serious episodes with psycho villains but also you can have more outlandish situations with robots or weird supervillains, you can have your Robin in a red and green outfit, and not hidden away in some black armor with the very slightest tinge of green like you're petrified of colour. It does not have to be a farce like Batman 1960s, or Batman & Robin. Even on-paper silly comic book elements can be taken seriously in the right portrayal.
