FF16 lost SE 2bn in value and didn't make any profit
Tabata never said 10m was XVs sales target, he mentioned 10m because only one other FF had even sold 10m at that point in time
XV was barely im development for 3.5 years under Tabata
SE specifically stated XV exceeded sales expectations at 6m so it was professionally at launch
At launch Tabata was asked if XV was profitable and broke even and he said yes it broken even and was profitable day 1
XVI was in development for 9 years under Yoshi-P and Takai
XVI still hasnt broken even yet
XV made insanely high profit due to selling an additional 5m that was all profit and thats on top of the profit made within the launch 5m since it was profitable within that figure too
Tabata left SE 2 years after XV released in 2018 after getting promoted and getting his team promoted, he then left SE 5 months later because he wanted to start his own company before he's at retirement age
The non canon xv dlc were only canned as a result of that and lost no money because they hadn't even started yet
the 33m loss was for new IP projects abd cgi production being cancelled which are miniscule in budget that justice combined amounted to 33m, which is the cost of a low budget game anyway, xv on pc made over $33m in profit that same fiscal year anyway so entirely covered that
and the mobile game made $375m in that fiscal year too
luminous productions proceeded for another FIVE years of active development on top of working on ff7r and ff16 in the background from their new ip
then in 2023 SE merged luminous productions back to cbu2 and prompted Aramaki to head the new engine development dick to focus on setting up luminous engine for company wide use now
and the xv staff are now in creative studio 4 where nozue from ffxv kingsglaive and ffxv and agni got promoted
