I do know however someone was impersonating me for months after I left the general though, but I have no idea how that shook out since I never came back

It's also a little different with one-off games. Lots of things get made one time, enter the market and just end. But when a game has several sequels and a legacy, it's a lot harder to permanently bury it because, as you said, people talk about it.
