No. They easily could make player data and mtx server sided so you wouldnt be able to use cheat engine or anything like that unless you would go with custom unlocker. There was PC port in development by Virtuos and Beenox but it got greenlit just before pandemic hit which skyrocketed porting costs so Activision pulled the plug on port back then.

Not even a 60fps update for current consoles. CTR could dethrone Mario Kart if it ran at proper framerate. Only hope we have now is the fan made PC port if we want 60fps and even then it's not guaranteed.

It was a lot more and due to chink virus everyone in industry panicked then because almost no one was adjusted to full remote. It was also time when Warzone was booming and Beenox itself was transitioning to full support only studio so Activision decided to kill the port.

Because people play games on console. Incels only sit in front of the computer and complain about graphics cards, the latest "woke" game, bitch on youtube, bitch in the forums, bitch on steam, bitch on 4chin, bitch on twitter, bitch on trannydiscord, bitch on vent and so on. There is no reason to cater to the pc crowd. Sitting in the living room and playing on the console is still the king of having fun for a while. Sitting hunched over and talking on discord while pretending you're a soldier in ARMA is not going to sell because only losers and bottoms play those games.

And those numbers are bound to be low; for being multiplat, on PC where it has to compete against more popular multiplayer games that are easier to access. That's why maybe a port doesn't make sense to activision, on pc the best scenario is ending like Rust at best.

Now compare that versus an actually popular game in its genre like MK8D and it's glaring the multiplayer won't be healthy and will die in the usual timespan.

most likely answer is that Activision just didn't see this game as a large investment being a spin-off title, and they didn't want to pay the video game studio to keep working on the title for a long time when they could move on and hypothetically make more money from a new mainline game (crash 4)

I'm comparing it to a very popular of its genre as measure to see the potential playerbase cap, since NF isn't nearly as popular the cap will be far from it. Then you brought some multiplat games' numbers and using those as healthy numbers shed light of the actual margin for a potential release. Which is low.

So yeah; it's relevant. NF wouldn't have a healthy online due not being popular as a kart racer, and numbers could be worse due being predates by all the other multiplayer games already avaiable on PC.

There's plenty of fucking games that look like fucking sonic and rayman legends and with that cutesy artstyle and maybe you think zoomers will like Crash more if it also looks like that, but fact of the matter is that looking and feeling like Looney Tunes is what made Crash feel unique as a game franchise

Video game publishers hide sales when they are bad. That's usually been the case. You know what else they do when sales are bad? Fire people and close down studios.

FYI "redundancy" is corpo speak for "You are a shitty employee/studio so we'll just give your work to one of the good employees/sudios".

Even biggest golem sometimes breaks down and finally acknowledges its pattern recognition and at very least will starts to question things. Girlboss fatigue is at all time high since thats what entire western entertainment industry been pushing for last decade. Same with other tropes like le stoic amazing black man with killmonger cut or ultra very smart black woman lol. Nowadays shitting out another girlboss trash is equivalent of releasing another corny Steven Seagal or Van Damme action flick mid 2000s.

For me, an IP is truly dead when no one talks about it (fan or dev wise) or there little to no art of it. Take Tai Fu here, one game, came out a year before the PS2 was set to come stateside, fan art is years apart, and the dev studio that made it got a name change (DreamWorks Interactive to EA Los Angeles and finally Danger Close Games) and said studio got shut down back in 2013.

It's also a little different with one-off games. Lots of things get made one time, enter the market and just end. But when a game has several sequels and a legacy, it's a lot harder to permanently bury it because, as you said, people talk about it.

The Crash fandom isnt dead just heavily demoralized. So much bullshit within the same century from Universal Interactive being bought by Vivendi and then merging with Activision, to Titans, endless recasts, remakes and hiatus. We might not have a Sonic 06 level failure with the franchise but its not that far off. Neither Activision and especially Microsoft or Toys for Bob really understand how to guide this IP.

Can you guys imagine if Sony didn't drop the ball with this franchise and actually did the smart thing and bought it off of Universal as well as the Spyro franchise? Sony could have had two solid franchises to fall back on for all these years. Crash would be far more than just nostalgia bait. I could easily see double these sales in an alternate universe where the franchise wasn't deemed shit for all these years and only came back to life due to nostalgia.

This sounds like wishful thinking. You know what else Sony owns? Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper. What are the states of these franchises? Soulless crap or inactivity, they are more dead on a fandom level than Crash or Spyro is. Sure they were less popular but nothing was stopping Sony from trying to have them compete with or even retain their own niche in the gaming market.

Its multiple factors. One is the most obvious: Activision wanted more money. They wanted N. Sane trilogy numbers for CTR:NF, Spyro and 4. Another is finding devs who would be competent enough to handle either Crash or Spyro. The list must have been short because they handed it to Toys for Bob, especially when the two companies who made the better remakes, including the Tony Hawk remake were disbanded. Whatever Crash 4 made wasnโ€™t the 20+ million sales they expected so it got shitcanned. Microsoft buying them out is another big one, they don't give a shit about cartoon mascots period.

What makes it weird is how much they pushed Crash in the PS1 generation. I get they didn't own it and maybe Universal would have wanted a lot of money or wouldn't have been interested in selling it at the time but they did end up selling to Activision is the thing. Sony at the very least could have kept buying timed exclusive? They have no problem doing that shit now. Its still absurd to me to think Crash isn't a Sony franchise when it very well should have been. It would be akin to Sega never owning Sonic despite how pushed it was during Genesis.

1) This thread is about CTRNF, not Crash 4
2) When Activision saw how well Nitro and N. Sane did they pulled a Square Enix and set an impossible sales target for Crash 4. It sold 5 million when they wanted more than double that, so they did what companies like Activision always do and shelved the franchise.
3) Crash 4 also had the unfortunate burden of an online multiplayer GaaS component being slapped onto it. That dumb moba thing that came out years later was originally supposed to ship with the game, I have no doubt that it would have been alive for slightly longer if it was available at launch than it wound up being in reality. More importantly, it's one of the main contributors as to why Activision thought the game would do better than "only" 5 million.

Rumble is quite literally just recycled "multiplayer" crap for Crash 4 there was no real long term goals for it.

They want Crash to make COD numbers and chase trends instead of finding its niche and sticking with it. It would be like Sonic suddenly turned into some Last of Us inspired cinematic dreck because thats whats โ€œinโ€.

They charged too much for Crash 4 and that N. Verted mode with filters was entirely pointless. Insane sales expectations definitely did not help, but that's AAA studios for you.

It ain't "doomposting". The first step on recovery is admitting there is a problem. If you keep telling Activision that there wasn't a problem with Crash 4, they will believe the franchise was "nothing but nostalgia with no legit merits on its own" and never greenlight another game.

Just like Banjo-Kazooie.

Lets ignore Rumbles existence and lump it in with the shitty mobile games released between Mind over Mutant to N. Sane. Its been 5 years since an actual Crash game. Now Mind over Mutant came out in 2008 and the 5 year leap from there would be 2013. Exactly 3 years later the N. Sane trilogy was announced to be released in 2017. We are well past that halfway point between the release of MOM to the release of N. Sane and have heard radio silence. More importantly, theres nothing really left to remake or inspire hope the brand can come back. Unless they wanna remake TWOC, Twinsanity and Bash.

Like I said, the first step to recovery is admitting there is a problem. FYI, Rumble was also Crash 4 given it was originally the multiplayer component, repackaged after 4's low sales.

Well enough. 30fps with decent but downgraded visuals from PS4/Xbox but way better visuals than N Sane on Switch. I put 200 hours into it back when the Grand Prix were coming out. It's also the only way to emulate/play on PC currently (and only way to play with 60fps using a patch). Load times suck ass though. I'm talking like 30 - 45 seconds of waiting before and after a race. You get used to it.
