Because it's impossible to watch if you don't know how Tekken works.
I play and watch a lot of fighting games. Even mechanically dense games are easy to watch if the gameplay can be parsed without knowing those mechanics in-depth. Unless you play Tekken, Tekken just looks like two absolute fucking retards mashing normals in each other faces. Player 1 mashes their normals, which are apparently safe, and then player 2 mashes their normals, which are apparently safe. Occasionally someone gets checked by a low-high mix-up, which does nothing except reduce their health a little bit before they go back to mashing normals. Eventually someone gets hit by a launcher and they start playing the wall carry minigame for like 10 seconds.
tl;dr Tekken looks incredibly "dumb" as a casual viewer, and so it's impossible to perceive whether either player is actually good at the game or just blindly mashing normals into dial-a-combo wall carries. I honestly find fucking MOBAs - the most notoriously impenetrable spectator esport - easier to understand than Tekken.
