Its an animated series but the problems are relatable and small and pretty much stayed that way throughout the entire series. Shit didn't go over the top every single episode like Simpsons or family guy. Not saying KoTH doesn't have it's over the top episodes it just chose to not do that shit for every single episode

King of the Hill is one of the worst reboots I can think of doing, the final episode finally gave Hank and Bobby something to truly bond over, which removes one of the major sources of episode plots right there, of Hank not understanding his son.
Top it off with the fact that the modern political climate makes the "Hank comes to understand and respect someone he previously disliked for their views or beliefs even if he doesn't agree with them" episode harder to work in now given that by modern standards Hank is a respectable moderate

No shit

>>717256826

The fact that these execs and creatives always reboot popular shows, games and/or movies that are extremely dated (but in a good way), concluded stories just speaks to how fucking bereft of new ideas the American creative industries are. And it's really just America for the most part that suck at making anything worthwhile. I didn't like E33 that much but I can appreciate the French trying something new and not rehashing old ideas over and over like some 100 year old serialized comic.

There it is. You already know that the problem is squarely with you, and the fact that you're too much of a casual to find anything beyond what's advertised and shilled the most (hence why you cite E33), but you try to weasel out of it by saying "ah it just wasn't worthwhile stuff then, so it's not on me to stop being a queer and guzzling basic bitch sloppa"

The writing can be absolutely brilliant. It's just a slice of life show but with a focus on somewhat realistic candid medium class american atmosphere.

The joke most of the time is thst people can be actuslly quite funny as is, without much exaggerating their traits or opinions. Also, Hank hill being usually the sanest and most competent, if too innocent around, instead of the biggest idiot around is refreshing.

It¿s just a grounded in reality comedy, sure it got ridiculous at some points but even if it made fun of conservatives they were also somewhat good people trying to better themselves.
Compare to The Goode Family which was the same crew but instead made fun of libtards and that one failed miserably since no one was relatable and it was frankly stupid and dumb as hell.

This but I'm the opposite: I've never understood the appeal of Beavis and Butthead.

It’s really just more King of the Hill. If the animation wasn’t nu-digital, I’d actually say it’s successful.

Half the voice cast of the original is dead. Everyone sounds old, sad and decrepit now. They look that way in the show too I mean Christ look at Peggy or Bill. The show ran during a perfect time: the 90s to mid 2000s before smartphones, Obama, social media and worse ruined the world. Now this new iteration has to address all of that in a condensed, tasteless manner. Its all so fucking tiresome.

Yeah true. That's what I meant by light-hearted. Extremists aside, there are conservative people like hank that just go about their lives not really knowing any different. KOTH doesn't aggressively tackle the subject, it just raises some questions and leaves them for the viewer to contemplate at their own pace.
