Some additional research suggests it's just a bastard nonsense-word made out of "wachuma" from Quechua and MAYBE "meqi" meaning "paternal uncle" from one of the Hokan languages of southwestern North America, or MAYBE "meque" from one of the Ayoreo languages roughly translating to "temporary home", so at its most optimistic when translated from the two component languages making up its name it translates to "cactus house"
I do guarantee however that after five minutes of research, it's a nonsense word made to sound like Quechua
