I think some Nintendo exec might have been geniunely offended by Conker's Bad Fur Day and they didnt like that they couldnt control Rare. Everything you heard about Rare behind the scenes made it seem like they were easy to work with, because Nintendo just left them alone. Sure GoldenEye was delayed a lot but it sold a shitton, they were a loose cannon. I'm sure some Nintendo employees also werent too happy some baka gaijin company was putting out more technically impressive games than they could on the N64.
Compare them to Retro which Nintendo ruled with an iron fist. They almost seemed happy to have a western dev they could beat into shape, Rare was too independent

Half the voice cast of the original is dead. Everyone sounds old, sad and decrepit now. They look that way in the show too I mean Christ look at Peggy or Bill. The show ran during a perfect time: the 90s to mid 2000s before smartphones, Obama, social media and worse ruined the world. Now this new iteration has to address all of that in a condensed, tasteless manner. Its all so fucking tiresome.
Forget that for a moment and realize since maybe between 2001-2009 was the absolute peak of CGI. King Kong, the LOTR trilogy, Dead Mans Chest, Avatar and a handful of other movies. Since then its been steadily downhill. The question is why? If your fucking movie is dependent on CGI it would behoove you to use the best and brightest and time of all things, to make it convincimg.
