They come in many different flavors, so it depends on what you're looking for. The gameboy color one "Scooby-Doo Mystery" is an Adventure game in the style of "Maniac Mansion," which is pretty cool though there's only one mystery based on an existing Episode (though it does have significant differences). There's another adventure game on Genesis that I haven't played, and the GBA tie in to the second live action movie is a fun side scrolling platformer if you're into that.

Have you played the game? It's basically just using the shooting script in a GBA ADV format. They locked the ending behind the movie so as not to spoil the ending before release, IE leaking their own script.

Because the premise was esentially a family friendly version of horror serials that are always popular for some reason combined with the appeal of an enjoyable cast of simple but strong personalities that are easy to imagine them in a variety of scenarios. The show also lacked an overarching plot from the get go too so you could do literally anything with them as long as the basic premise of plucky kids and their talking dog(s) solve monster related mysteries.

The characters are based on 60s archetypes. And whilst their general archetypes are still around, their styles are not and there are dynamics that could be filled. But their designs are so locked in that a drastic change of appearance or introducing new permanent team members to fill gaps in their line-up will always be met with pushback.
So you’re stuck working with characters from a 60s/70s setting interacting with a post millennium world.

There's something I've despised about WNSD since it first premiered. Maybe it's the bright plastic digital art style that took away whatever sense of atmosphere the original had, maybe it's the inclusion of 00s era bands making it feel incredibly uncanny (I hated the sound of bands like Simple Plan and sum41 back then, sounded like whiny teenage boy rock, perfect for teenage girls), or maybe it's the years of generic direct to home video movies feeling incredibly cheap.

But the classic 60s/70s Scooby-Doos are great.
The 90s movies are fantastic, there's a lot of good 90s Scooby-Doo content.
The direct to video movies from the 70s to 90s like Boo Brothers and Ghoul School are good.
Even a Pup Named Scooby-Doo has a charm about it.
The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo is a classic.
Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue, despite being so different to everything that came before it, is entertaining
Mystery Inc. is genuinely good.

But fuck WNSB.

I disagree. Every character has "their" color. Velma's orange, Shaggy's green, Daphne's purple, Fred's white.
While they can mix a little bit, like Fred's ascot and Daphne's scarf, the colors are linked to each character.
Having Mike's primary colors be Velma's and Daphne's, with Velma's skirt for a coat, it a bit too far. Hell, he's basically Velma wearing Daphne's top.

Plus, he's got a scarf, or ascot, or neckerchief of some kind. I didn't know what to do with that, but that's not his shirt that's tied around his neck.
Though, I will admit his hair doesn't need to be quite so dark in comparison to >>720694730.

>Actually, why is there such a push for that nowadays
It's been a thing for quite sometime apparently. Since the 90s, I think. At first it was kind of a joke much like how people saw Shaggy as a stoner. Plus in retrospect there's a lot of aspects to her character that fall into those queer stereotypes and tropes. So a lot of people headcanoned her as such. It's only now that it's reach official capacity.

The 90s were the lightest decade for Scooby content by far. You had the tail end of Pup Named at the very beginning and then nearly nothing until Zombie Island kicked off the annual movies, but even that run of movies bled into the 00s.

I was gigantic fan of Scooby-Doo, Where are You? (there were reruns and home videos of it all through the 90s), What's New Scooby-Doo?, and I later watched Mystery Inc during college and loved it. The other series were mid at best and predated me or I was too old to really be drawn in to the newer ones.

But yeah, when I looked at a Saturday morning or summer TV lineup and saw Scooby Doo, I was always stoked because it was supremely good shit compared to most of what else was on. Scooby Doo straddles the line between (kid appropriate) horror and comedy quite well.

I wouldn't say so. Cryptid hunters still exist these days, and a bunch of meddling kids aren't gonna be able to afford a full CCTV setup (nor would there be one set up in the haunted house out in the bayou). Even splitting up and losing each other would still be possible, since there's things like phone jammers, losing their phone, not having service, running out of battery, etc. You'd just have to establish it once and the audience would know the deal without having to re-establish it every episode.

There's a deleted scene from the 2002 film where Velma while "drunk" (she didn't actually consume alcohol but thought she did and is such a lightweight she felt buzzed) stands on a table in the hotel restaurant and sings a love song while pointing at Fred & Daphne with the intention being that you can't tell who she's focusing on (though you're inclined to think Daphne since she's not fond of Fred for most of the movie).

There's plenty of setups regarding haunted treasure or potentially a monster at a museum that'd have overlap between the two series. The real meat is just how many gags you'd be able to get out of Lupin as a master of disguise. People constantly getting split up and reappearing, never knowing if it's him, and then the final mask reveal just going all over the place. Then there's Zenigata and Fred getting into the mechanics of setting up traps or his throwable cuffs. Not to mention the big chase scene with the Gang chasing the Monster and Zenigata chasing Lupin, just for them all to get mixed up.

Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost are some of the high points of the franchise, especially in terms of animation. I think they get worse the further they go, but they're at a minimum decent. I'm not sold on bright orange on him, though. It's Velma's thing, and any piece of his that becomes orange is going to be one of his major colors, not just a highlight like Fred's ascot.
