Went through Darkness Falls, Insanity's Edge, and now on Winter's Fury. Man you can really see the improvement between all 3.
>Darkness Falls
>so many encounters you needed to fall back through the door you entered just because no room to fight multiple barons of hell in
>there was some normal fights that were fine but far too many - I need to cheese this with doorway exploits so I don't take damage at all
>3 cyber demon fights in with no plasma weapons
>used Eraser weapons for it cause I saw it had no weapon edits - felt mostly balanced aside from being able to cheese Revenants a bit more easily
>have to constantly use my flashlight mod due to poor lighting
>doesn't inform me that I need to have jump/free look enabled
>too many barons and even though it was only 3 maps long I felt it went on too long
>Insanity's Edge
>Ok I really should not have used Doom Incarnate's Bloodrayne for this
>completely trivialized everything - that 24 round shotgun with a scope is so GOOD
>breath of fresh air though after not getting a plasma weapon till the end of Darkness Falls
>fights were definitely better tho - more room to maneuver and better monster placement
>I ended up using Bloodrayne's night vision for most of the mod due to poor lighting
>I didn't get a plasma till near the end of map 1.
>the platforming sections near the end of map 1 over the insta kill lava was aids
>Winter's Fury
>story isn't full of typos and bad english - prior 2 wads both had major issues with both
>better paced shorter levels with smaller monster counts than prior games (around 150-170 on the non boss maps)
>takes most of your ammo, armor, health between each level for balancing
>still get a sense of progression - get a plasma way sooner than prior 2 mods and enemies I need it for at the same time
>better boss fights so far
>only one story section where the lighting was an issue (pic related) but not enough to warrant flashlight mod usage
>no mods installed at all this time
