That hasn't been true since v4
v3 was on the SDXL arch, but 4 and 4.5 were trained from scratch and probably with arch differences.

They opensourced v2 weights which was basically what had leaked back in the 1.5 days that led to all the good anime mixes and the "anything" line of models.

If the released v3 it would still be more consistent than a lot of the open models. They do a better job of both tagging and general data curration, but the size based batching detailed in that paper above I think is one of the big deals and I don't think anyone in oss has replicated it.

It's not as much as you think. look at the above paper. v4 and 4.5 are way better and I'm sure they did a lot of really good tagging, but simple novel training stuff got them a long ways.
