A lot of cartoons in the 80s were guided by "parent groups", who ensured politically correct (what "woke" was called back in the 80s and 90s) messages could be spread to children at an early age. Which is probably why millenials and zoomers are still willing to accept that shit.
By the late 80s and 90s, writers/creators starting having more control over their cartoons and rejected most of those parent groups (and it's probably why those children media education laws started being pushed in the 90s).
I always thought MMPR felt more like a product of the 80s due to the subject matters and actors, but you can still see that rejection, hence the black ranger being black and the yellow ranger being asian. They play it off as not noticing, but no one is that dumb. No one would ever be willing to admit to such a simple joke, especially today and after all the drama about the gay ranger.
Nah, MMRP is toxic as fuck.
Whereas, where's the drama and bigotry with GI Joe? He-Man? Fucking gay icons there and multiculturalism in every episode. Even the violence is as inoffensive as possible and is so cheesy, it's viewed as mocking the military industrial complex/American army. You have to dig to find anything problematic with the big nostalgiafag 80s series.
