As a nonsports card collector, if MtG players hate outside IPs, they should start traditional, non-TCG nonsports card publishers to compete for licenses. It's more difficult to sustain non-gaming nonsports cards, but y'all've built robots to do your sorting, you can figure out a way to make nonsports sustainable.

The worst thing to happen to nonsports was getting rid of the gum. The second was hitching the entire hobby to comic book shops, in the 90s. When the comic book and sports card market collapsed, so did the nonsports market, and aside from TCGs, it never recovered.
