Here's the definitive ratings for each episode
>E1: 5/10
Too much time spent on set up. The combat part sucked dick. Highlight for me was definitely the tutorial out of nowhere with its own characters advertising for SDN. That part ruled.
>E2: 8/10
Very competent set up. The cliffhanger is odd if you don't care that much about the romance, which is the case with me.
>E3: 9/10
The game is properly started at this point. It's flexing both its storytelling and gameplay muscles. Very impressed.
>E4: 9/10
This is where the game shines in terms of consequences for your choices up to this point, which is smart to do at the halfway mark. If it keeps up like this, then it's only gonna go up from here. Honestly the romance feels shallow and masturbatory, but I will say that there is novelty in it being played completely straight like a harem anime. Definitely preferable to subversion for subversion's sake. Phenomaman rules. Fuck Waterboy.
>E5: 9/10
Game continues shining, quality is being kept up.
>E6: 6/10
Too short, not enough Dispatching, pretty much all of your choices from the previous episode turn out not to matter.
>E7: 4/10
Way too short. They managed to make Shroud cool, this is the one good villain in this entire game.
>E8: 6/10
It gets points for the very good last Dispatching and for all the differences based on your choices, but the fact that it has no bad endings, severe railroading, generally very iffy writing and no impact whatsoever based on your Dispatching performance leaves the game on a very bittersweet note. It stuck the landing, but with very little flourish. The obligatory QTEslop sucked, of course. A big waste of momentum from Episode 2, 3, 4 and 5, which were on a generational run.
Overall, I had fun and don't regret buying the game at all. But I will not be paying extra for the deluxe edition after all. I am disappointed that they are clearly baiting for a Season 2 continuation and the reactivity sacrifices they made for the sake of that.
