Light map is an old technology and people use it for the static environments, dungeon with torches, moonlight on a graveyard, sunny beach.
Whenn you add real time moving sun, shadows from the sun can't be baked.
The only downside of light maps is a size.
Your textures already are heavy, and you add another layer of data on top of it. So in a game with 1024x1024 textures it's a great thing, in a game with 4k textures it's a shitty shadows for 25GB
