Fighting games are over the top and dramatic. That attracts specific audience. FGS people love hyperboles and maximalist statements. You can't say "lobby system is inconvenient and reduces chances people keep playing" you have to say "holy fuck I used to play Guilty Gear NiggX back in the day and this Strivet won't fly, games garbagio for babies, never reached celestial cause game sux like ur mom does my dick, lmao ez gg "
But overall I liked older games for impression that the whole stage is usable, you can jump and be anywhere, use every tool, just play. Strive becomes about mechanics and formulas from the get go. I believe that's what people mean when they say "player expression in fighting game", an importin illusion that you can ignore and bend rules and confinement of the game easily and every character does it how they want. Strive "feels" way more linear and generic.
I'm like super drunk, no idea what I typed jst now, fuck your gays have a good weekend
