Fighting games are over the top and dramatic. That attracts specific audience. FGS people love hyperboles and maximalist statements. But overall I liked older games for impression that the whole stage is usable, you can jump and be anywhere, use every tool, just play. Strive becomes about mechanics and formulas from the get go. I believe that's what people mean when they say "player expression in fighting game", an importin illusion that you can ignore and bend rules and confinement of the game easily and every character does it how they want. Strive "feels" way more linear and generic.

Not exactlt patch notes, but a major in EU has the Lucy patch and there are a few things to make note of. For one, guard crush has throw protection now and apparently 360 pot buster is gone now

Okay, serious, long answer.

On ACPR and Xrd it was pretty easy to feel like you were always in full control of your character, everyone was fast, people were flying around the screen doing crazy shit while still interacting heavily with each other (except maybe Bridget running away from Pot), it is nothing but extreme fun.

On Strive all the characters got their moves cut down, some became very one-dimensional, the gameplay is forcibly grounded (if you try to combo someone in the air they'll drop like a brick), gatlings were removed forcing all combos to be S H Special or some variation of that, characters are way slower in every sense and the wall adds a very artificial combo limit that also puts a stop to the match for 3 seconds every other combo, the screen was shrunk (or the characters made bigger) so that you're forced to inevitably walk directly into each other, while the upwards and backwards mobility was severely reduces (try airdashing back and see how far that takes you).
On top of that the overall dmg to combo complexity was adjusted so that every character does high dmg with relatively low effort, going for crazy combos and difficult routes no longer rewards you, but rather punishes you for your efforts.

Every single character mechanic you see in Strive is just a very simplified version of one they used to have, Ram doesn't control her swords while they're away, Bedman automatically triggers the copied move after a set time, May no longer can summon and hold dolphins or interact with the beachball, Bridget no longer has a dedicated button purely for Yo-Yo exclusive moves, Johnny no longer has levels, Elphelt doesn't have weapon stances, etc etc.

There's more stuff that probably other people have problems with, individual character differences, the way just defense works, burst, gatlings, etc, you could probably fill entire documents about how each thing was different and more freestyle before compared to how limited Strive has made it.

Depends on who you play. Generally run from her and try to airthrow her if she’s airdashing at you. If you have good projectiles or pokes use them before she gets in range for Danzai. If she uses danzai you can break the armor with a super, or you can use an invincible reversal through the second hit since it has no armor.

The burst gauge fills the same as every other gauge, what the fuck are you talking about? Also you can see how they addressed the readability in Rev1, they made borders of the letters much smaller/nonexistent in places so that it fills up basically like a bar. Sure I can understand wanting it to be more symmetrical but no one can actually have a problem with readability, you'll always be able to see how much burst you have and when you have full burst.

I’m too tired to go much in depth but I think if you play +R and then strive, you’ll find it hard to find strive enjoyable. Rounds end too fast because of damage, movement feels bad, wallbreaks are weird, animations in general take too long, and a ton of characters are just direct downgrades from their previous selves if they resemble them at all. I don’t expect there to ever be a character as fun as Zappa in a new fighting game ever. Strive’s online is also clunky because you have to go through the tower which is also set up poorly even if it wasn’t buggy, but there’s a chance ranked fixes that part.

You mean FRC? that's not actually frame perfect, and it could've been fixed by making it more intuitive (maybe an audio cue) or just widening the window just ever so slightly.
Some characters have 2f windows other have 4f windows, Slayer for example has 4f FRC windows.
While Xrd doesn't even have FRCs and people still like it a lot.
Strive currently has a 2f window to do Instant Block, that to me, is worse than the FRC, since FRC is not even mandatory for playing good. While IB is the only way to punish some moves, when was the last time you saw anyone purposely using IB or IBFD?.

You could just also practice the non-optimal combo that works on everyone, while still leaving open the option for people who wants to practice the maximum dmg specific combo, that's part of what makes combos in fighting games fun, the fact that you can optimize and go crazy, but you don't have to.

Closest I have felt to that was Menat on SFV, but she still wasn't quite that, I tried puppet chars on BB / GG and Ram / Bedman on Xrd but those also didn't scratch the itch.

Strive Bridget is an entirely different character and I'm not a huge fan of the new voice, nothing comes as close to sounding as cute as Yukiko Kato's slow and playful "abunai desu yo!" if someone knows if there's a voice mod for Strive Bridget to sound like +R please let me know!

4 new characters confirmed on Arcsys' website when season 2 was announced
4 new characters confirmed when season 3 was announced at the end of Johnny's trailer
4 new characters obviously confirmed in season4's trailer.

Meanwhile 2.0 only shows two silhouettes.Combined with the fact that basically all the characters anyone cares about are already in the game now and that they're working on other games like marvel, it's pretty obvious that they're winding down development. We an also actually see how the game is selling (kind of) because arcsys announces it once a year:

By each season the game had :
2: 1 million units sold
3: 2.5 million players
4: 3 million players

And by 2.0 : 3.5 million players.
I guess the switch from units to players reflects that the game was added to gamepass(?), so then it must be true that units sold <= players. Meaning that the number of units sold plateaued between season 3 and season 4 in the very best case scenario

So the game basically sold the same between season 3 and 4 and between season 4 and now. That's not a good thing because it means the anime has had no effect and was therefore a bad investment for arcys, which is not surprising because everyone knows that it sucked. It's pretty unlikely that sales will improve from here for all the reasons already stated like the lack of characters to add and arcsys moving their main team on to different games. 3.5 is already a huge amount for an anime fighter anyway.

If you hit someone with a CH 6H, and you get 30 ~ 40frames to cancel into something else before they tech or hit the ground, then you can start trying every option that's below 30f ~ 40f startup combined or that's barely hitting with the tip of your hitboxes to create more air-time / different routes.

Here's some examples of me messing around with Bridget on training mode trying to come up with my own combos, every combo starts with the same attack but you can see the idea of testing different moves.

I have been playing for years and havent hit celestial, I just flicker between floors 7-10, occasionally picking up and dropping the game. I dont really even try to get better anymore, I just play to play. Being a new player could debatably be better than this as I wouldnt have so much ingrained mediocre muscle memory. Yes. Sin, is extraordinarily easy to win with. He's foolproof on offense, does massive effortless damage, has high HP, strong defense and good neutral. Spend a short time learning the combos and he will carry you.
