they probably wouldn't if AI companies weren't so slimey when going about training their models with stolen data and tech pajeets weren't such insufferable hypocrites. in fact, when image generation was taking off my sister who's a big leftie was excited because she thought she could train her own model on her own illustrations for inspiration or something but she quickly learned that she would need data center levels of hardware, quite literally hundreds of thousands of illustrations to be fed into a model for it not to output complete dogshit, and how everything (at the time) was a total black box.
