cars don't have a sex because they are not biological and cannot reproduce on their own but they do have a gender because they are made by people and we inherently give them human features.
cars with hips are girls if there is bodywork over the rear wheels that is less than vertical, leaving a bulged fender appearance over the entire wheel. so miata, 350z, mustang, challenger, 'maro, most sports cars have this kind of styling feature. if you can draw an imaginary line from the center of the rear tire, go straight up and hit external bodywork it's a female car.
cars with slab sides up the rear fender all the way to the roof or trunk deck are male cars. so most commuter trash and utility vehicles are male. if you draw the same line off the rear tire and end up in the interior of the car instead of outside the fender bodywork it's male.
keep in mind this is different from the way the car makes the driver look. miatas are indeed girls but you are still seen as very gay for driving one.
