>Are there any particulars I should take away from this that would make the mini notably better?
Shading's gonna be the biggie. The anons that were talking about the leather? Absolutely right! If you're using Mournfang Brown or Doombull Brown, wash them with Agrax Earthsahde. After that dries, edge highlight with the same brown again. If you have Deathclaw Brown, use that to do a final really thin edge highlight as well.

>Shading for example, I think it would make the armour look too dark if I applied it all over
You are correct, sir!

>Where should I focus it?
When I use something like Agrax Earthshade over Evil Sunz Scarlet (or just Blood Angels Red, which looks pretty much the same), the dark areas should be in the joints where pieces of armour come together. If you can't get your shade into the crevices - or maybe if you don't want to go cross-eyed trying to be so precise - go back over the places that aren't supposed to be so dark with your original blue colour. Is that Macragge Blue, by the way? I would suggest using a dark blue or purple wash instead of a black one like Nuln Oil.

Save the Nuln oil for your gun metal, like that bolt pistol.

>Where should I highlight and how obvious should the highlight be?
Focus on the edges of things, especially the "top" edges - i.e., those that would be closer to or directly under the source of your strongest light, as opposed to something underneath or behind something else.
