We're not from this world. Consciousness is exogenous from man, we only enjoy it in a more refined and concentrated form vs. lesser animals. What we call the spirit is an accumulation of transcendental consciousness (the self) that can be further cultivated across eternity, looking to finally merge as One consciousness, return to God.
