Is the world becoming actually increasingly difficult or worse to live in, or does it just feel that way?

I dream of leaving America behind. Every time I go outside all the young people are foreigners anyway. Its not like I'm already culturally isolated and the for the few Americans left they don't have a culture outside of politics.
