The FF games are comfy but there's something about classic JRPG design that captures our soft post WW2 world. Disney fairy tales for millenial/zoomer crowd, a world of make believe that you can not only watch but interact with and be the hero of the disney fantasy. Maybe a reflection of the people in our all too peaceful no big war world where death comes before happy endings for most of the human experience. Crazy to think a little over a hundred years ago you were sent to one of the biggest human grinder wars, WW1 before your brain even developed fully and we have 20 and 30 somethings nowadays arguing about what disney fairy tale world was better or flaws of these interactive make believe virtual realities. I would argue dudebro military shooters are more fulfilling for youth in terms of video games because it prepares you for the reality of war and death violence and the study of weapons to dispatch other humans from the material plane with no high fantasy disney magic that is better suited for elementary school aged kids.
