Basically the Ben 10 Ultimate Alien thing of how Ultimate forms are the result of running an Alien into a simulated battleground to force the evolution.
In Limbus the IDs are basically what happens if X character had been in Y scenario instead. A Faust that takes place of a crusader villain becomes a psychotic human supremacist that hates cyborgs, coming with bloodied armor, an ID of Faust in a technological district uses prosthetics to have four limbus etc. and each have different skill sets. The personality is warped from nurture but the nature means your characters don't become backstabbing psychopaths like the antagonists.
So that pic is essentially a Faust that is raised in Vaeltria in Prim's place.
