It is. It would be awkward if characters entered goblin den but didn't fight, entered an inn and didn't eat or sleep. met a side character but didn't talk. Nobody would read such a story where everything but the last step is narrated in detail, and then just nothing happens.
It is no less immersion-breaking if characters are romantically involved, but somehow do not consummate their feelings with sex. Even worse if author keeps hinting at it, but never commits.
It's not unreasonable to be upset at betrayed expectations like that no matter how much dishonest faggots like you keep implying otherwise.
