If Denji was a psychopath, his character wouldn't even work. One of the main driving elements of his character is how he can never let go of the guilt of killing his own family members, which cause him to fall into a spiral of self hate, desperation for validation and avoidant coping mechanisms that keep him in a spiral of misery.
