Definitely applies to the US, but also probably to most everywhere else too. You don't really see meals catered to women vs men. You'll often see kids menus with smaller portions catered to that group's needs though. Since women are shorter and have less muscle mass then men, they don't need anywhere the same calories. The FDA used to recommend 2500kcal for men and 2000kcal for women a day, but they changed that to 2000 for everyone. The reasoning was because people became more sedentary, but woke feminist bullshit prevented them from telling women to also cut down to 1750kcal. So you have women eating the same portions and calories as a man now. To the point that seeing a low bodyfat women in the US is a rarity. It's to the point that you'll see arguing online about some women that has a 3-4 face, but is skinny, and it becomes a giant shitfest about how she's above average in attractiveness. And there's hundreds of other little reasons that all add up as well, but this point is the big fat elephant in the room.
