Because neither Flame Princess nor Finn are real people. Like FP and Finn breaking up isn't either of their fault, it's the writers.
So when a character gets written out of the show it's only natural for the fans to get mad at them because it's the writer decided to end that character's arc there. It's only natural that people will get mad because seen a character actively go incomplete is unsatisfying as a story.
