FP may be the character that got shit on the most by the show. At no point in the series would I say they were handling her character well, she always had problems to some degree and it only got worse over time.

I believe the FP hate was less about her being bad and more lashing out due to her breakup with Finn marking the beginning of his character's worst arcs and the show's downward spiral as a whole. Prior to the break up he was still the chill yet silly human hero in a land of fantasy, she was a nice yet volatile girl who had good chemistry with him, and the romance as a whole was sweet and made sweeter by the whole "can't touch each other for long" dynamic, it had an air of fantasy and innocence about it. Then they split and it seems like not only the characters but the very tone of the show changes and never goes back to what it was, so later on when people learned that Muto and his team effectively sabotaged Finn on purpose, his relationship and by extension FP become a sore spot. Doesn't help that after it she becomes sort of distant and ironically enough cold.
