Why aren't you criticizing the charm stat though? It's even worse! I think for that one I'm gonna take pic rel and obscure his face for level one, but for 4 and 5 I'll have to basically draw a prince charming from Shrek.

Fault here is that in Dark Souls games you can't progress without combat. I also think that people going for DS games are somehow prepared for a challenge.

I don't see any stats. A lot of players can mean anything in this context. 20 people in a room is a lot, but when you take the percentage of people playing Dark Souls then it's just a miniscule number.
Still, DS games are different breed. You have a lot of attributes, a lot of different weapons and eventually you will find a weapon that scales with your build. A lot of that text is just misdirection, a false problem that doesn't need solving.
For Dirk? It's a much smaller scale. You wanna hit hard? Go with strength and agility. You wanna avoid combat? You can perfeclty do that. You wanna do no-leveling-up run? I'll make it possible too.
