What's some traditional italian dish that doesn't have foreign ingredients in it? Aside of like spices, spices are okay, they've got a long history in the continent. But corn, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, coffee, and tobacco (even though it's not a food...?) are all from the Americas.

It's not like we use too much though, it's less than a teaspoon, and it's just to "cortar la acidez". I can definitely notice when sugar isn't there, and some people even use raw tomato puree without cooking it. Fucking cavemens they are.
