I played a shitton of Hexen as a kid on MSDOS and didn't play Heretic until fairly recently, and honestly I prefer Heretic. Yes it's just fantasy Doom, but it's like what did you expect, that's what it says on the tin. I prefer a straightforward fantasy Doom to whatever the fuck Hexen was trying to be.
