Their developed industry (shipbuilding, car and aviation plants and so on) was gone in several years. There has been no jobs except (((finance))) (including channels of draining money out of Russia to West), logistic (from West to Russia and in the opposite direction), some fishery and tourism (mostly for Scandinavian countries and, well, you know, Russians). Only Western Europe has a right for industry in the EU.
It means a lot of young and young-ish people just leaving the country, because there is nothing to do. They flood Scandinavia, Britain, Ireland.

Younger people going and older people staying means fewer births.

Well, now the economy is shit, and there is not enough doctors (I guess, or at least the most capable ones left), so number of deaths is rising. All three countries are in Top-5 of death rate in the EU. (Another two countries are Romania and Bulgaria having the same problems about economy and demography).
