The question of how much influence a hypnotist truly has over a subject is a hotly debated question, both in academia and among the recreational hypnosis community. Its not total--no matter how good of a hypnotist you are, you cannot actually hypnotize someone to assassinate someone like in the Manchurian Candidate.

At the same time, its not zero. The people we interact with in our day to day lives have some amount of influence on us to begin with, and its reasonable to say that someone who's put you in a suggestible state has increased that. Someone who trains you to feel pleashre and the sound of a snap or something is absolutely influencing you sexually. But getting to that point in the first place usually requires allowing the hypnotist to set that trigger to begin with.
