I played this game and I liked it, so I'm gonna shill it. It's not scary at all (more surreal) and the combat is atrocious, but in terms of puzzles I think it really pushes the genre to the limits without being too much of a slog.
You can also see the cute female protagonist in her underwear.

There are some pretty cool modern-retro games coming out these days. I just played this and thought it was really fun and had a lot of handcrafted details to appreciate. There's a sequel/prequel coming out soon but I don't look up any trailers or info for games once I've decided I'm going to play them.
