I don't know why people get so confused by this term. It simply implies that the protagonist is placed in a different environment. By "world," the Japanese mean a setting, not necessarily a planet or dimension. For example, Futurama and Inuyasha are isekais. One is a scyfi genre and the other is a historical/folklore genre. Both take place in our world, but in different historical periods.
Having video game elements doesn't make it an isekai. For example, Magical Circle Guru Guru has a ton of JRPG elements and isn't an isekai; it's just fantasy; the protagonists belong to that world/setting.
