It’s hard to imagine Goblins in the GS world being this joke bottom-barrel garbage beginner quest issue. Why? Because you seemingly can’t go ANYWHERE without being attacked by hordes of Goblins. It seems like the threat level is much more severe than being low-pay garbage GS has to take on pro bono all the time. Why isn’t the army out doing regular anti-Goblin patrols and clearing out nests if it’s THIS persistent a threat to the people? Literal invading armies do less damage over the long run.

>Why isn’t the army out doing regular anti-Goblin patrols and clearing out nests if it’s THIS persistent a threat to the people?
Because armies suck at dealing with widely dispersed opponents, so gobs are left for tiny teams of tiny adventurers.
Because gobs are the least dangerous things out there, so the army has bigger fish to fry.
Because the Kingdom realizes that gobs make incredibly shitty minions, so letting them survive actually fouls up the plans of other more dangerous non-prayers.

BTW what would GS do if he saw his own kingdom actually using Goblins as servants? I don’t mean doing experiments, but actually putting collars on them and making them go out and do work. Would this enrage him to the point of doing whatever he could to end the practice? Or would he just think they’re better under some kind of control then running around free? What if there was a corrupt noble using Goblins to terrorize the countryside for some reason?

My bet is the cow is already dead and she's being used as a tool by the driver girl, just like horses are used in necromancy. In another manga, a necromancer explains that there are two ways to revive something: one as puppets where they depend on the magician's instructions, and the other where the person still retains their autonomy but can't stray too far from the magician or they'll return to their corpse state. Also, if the magician loses their life, everyone turns to dust.

This is the reason why the driver is so tired. Damn, I really loved that cow.

This is because goblins are rated by their individual threat, which is very low. An equivalent in our world: during the Middle Ages, beasts like lions, wolves, and even mythological beasts like dragons were feared. But the real threat was actually rat fleas. Even so, there were hundreds of famous beast hunters, but the true heroes were the rat hunters. There are records that cities that had these services suffered fewer casualties from the plague.

I don't know why people get so confused by this term. It simply implies that the protagonist is placed in a different environment. By "world," the Japanese mean a setting, not necessarily a planet or dimension. For example, Futurama and Inuyasha are isekais. One is a scyfi genre and the other is a historical/folklore genre. Both take place in our world, but in different historical periods.

Having video game elements doesn't make it an isekai. For example, Magical Circle Guru Guru has a ton of JRPG elements and isn't an isekai; it's just fantasy; the protagonists belong to that world/setting.

GS refers to RPGisms all the time. Spell casts per day (rest), stat numbers are never revealed, but they are there, as are levels. Year One novel actually mentions GS's starting levels when he registers. And did you miss all the talk about dice rolling.
Honorable mentions: critical hits mentioned.

Besides, the idiotic notion of adventuring and quests being centrally organised with a heaps of paper bureaucracy, he ranks, textbook native isekai shit. Japanese can't live without their system and hierarchy, kek.

Has to be said that GS is nowhere near the worst when it comes to these. I would not even call it slop. But thinking it's special just because it mostly references tabletop instead of mmmorpg and crpg GUIs is at best a gimmick.

A little. Record of Lodoss War was a D&D campaign that was novelized and the setting modified when the D&D rights holders weren't interested in working with them. Goblin Slayer is more like an avid tabletop gamer and fantasy novel reader decided to try writing a novel. The influences are obvious, but it doesn't really adhere to the rules of any its influences if it doesn't feel like it.

What are you babbling on about? He asked if the series was based on D&D because he was confused as what the series appears to be doing with necromancy at the moment doesn't fit with what he knows of D&D. I clarified for him that D&D's just one of the series' inspirations and it's not actually running on a D&D ruleset. Nothing you said has anything to do with that, much less contradicts anything I said.

Funny you should say that considering that now that you mention it, it occurs to me that the adventurers never actually write reports. In either Goblin Slayer or really even other series with an adventurer's guild in the setting, the adventurer just gives a verbal report to the guild employee, and if there's any writing of reports to be done, it's done by the guild employee. So the scenario you're describing never actually occurs.
