Proof that early season record mean nothing. The 2007 suns started off their season 1 and 5. They then finished the season 61-21 and only lost to the eventual Champions spurs, of which many people believe they could have won the series anyway (questionable) but they almost certainly win the season if they didnt have to face the Spurs.

To be fair, some context here is that Amare Stoudemire was playing on restricted minutes as he had just come off a knee surgery, 15 to 20 minutes to be exact, but it was a slow start nonetheless. Their first lost was to a no Kobe 2006 Lakers team. They proceeded to have a 15 game winstreak throughout that season...and then another winstreak of...17 games straight with no losses, their last winstreak of the season was 5 games, but I think those two prior winstreaks more than make up for it.
