All thay does is further encourage this stifling of offense for fear of fouling.

This is why I say, the game is NOT balanced in either direction, defense can be too strong, and offense can be too strong because of the simultaneous arbitrary strictness of rules and laxness of rules.

The fall for that Draymond pick and roll way too much. I have zero idea why Draymond is every being doubled on a drive to the basket with Quinten Post just sitting in the corner.
Unironically for how many mistakes Phoenix made (25 points conceded off of turnovers) this game was yet somehow still this close. And thats because sometimes they would have elite ball movement where they would find Mark Williams open in the paint. This team SUCKS on the perimeter though. Its not just about 3s made. They suck at setting screens, they struggle to beat their man without screens, and even when they do, they are poor at navigating getting collapsed on drives. Booker is the only one that makes those thread the needle pick and roll passes, and while hes a decent passer, he isnt good enough to find Mark Williams and his long ass arms in a mismatch in the paint. I think he must have been scared and playing safe because of how many turnovers they already accrued.

They also suck at guarding the perimeter, they close out lazely, sometimes not even jumping, which, if youre not going to jump, then you HAVE to be close, sticking to your man like glue. They got dissected by that basic ass pick and roll shit where they would double curry for some reason despite him shooting like ass almost every time hes guarded 1 on 1. They unironically need to concede those shots. Curry shot 50% from 3 on more than 10 3s attempted and dropped 35 against Portland and what did they do? Get blown out by 30 points.

This suns team genuinely has potential, needs to get cleaned up by a good coach, and ideally a PG with actually decent vision, Bookers load is way too much:

Proof that early season record mean nothing. The 2007 suns started off their season 1 and 5. They then finished the season 61-21 and only lost to the eventual Champions spurs, of which many people believe they could have won the series anyway (questionable) but they almost certainly win the season if they didnt have to face the Spurs.

To be fair, some context here is that Amare Stoudemire was playing on restricted minutes as he had just come off a knee surgery, 15 to 20 minutes to be exact, but it was a slow start nonetheless. Their first lost was to a no Kobe 2006 Lakers team. They proceeded to have a 15 game winstreak throughout that season...and then another winstreak of...17 games straight with no losses, their last winstreak of the season was 5 games, but I think those two prior winstreaks more than make up for it.

On the Contrary, we have a 2007 Utah Jazz team that started off the season 12 and 1. Ended the season 51-31. Its not as if this was a "bad" season per se, but nowhere close to what the early season record would suggest. They went to 7 games against the Rockets, swept the We Believe Warriors who shouldnt have won that series against a 67 win Dallas, and then got completely swept by a Spurs team in the conference finals, that they didnt deserve to make it to. The real conference finals was suns vs spurs and even then the suns got fucked by injuries and suspensions
