By doing this, they turned liberals and leftists away from working-class economic issues and created a boutique version of the left that alienated the working class because, let's face it, troons, women's liberation, and hippies doing drugs really don't have anything to do with an average worker who needs to be able to afford to raise a family, own a home, pay for health care etc. That was the whole point. It destroyed any vehicle there could have been to improve the lot of the average worker and turned it into a decadent liberal bourgeois club of pretentious college educated freaks (often with post geaduate degrees) who get off on smelling their own farts, virtue signaling, and looking down on the very working class that Marx actually cared about.
