The last fucking thing was the tranny game they helped get off the ground but even that fucking game was fucking years ago? Like have the devs moved on and got industry jobs at this point? A Hat In Time was successful but its not fucking making like Undertale fucking money a studio cant survive off of that shit alone. They dont even got like a merch line to keep them afloat either. Well when you have set up a literal gatekeeping institution(CalArts) where only a limited pool of people can get in(its mostly people with money to burn) you are going to have very similar people with VERY similar ideas around you.
I look back on most of the big name creators and while they all eventually CAME to California, they werent FROM California. California was the place you would go to to try and make it with whatever crazy ideas you had, therefore making California its own melting pot. But over the years so many fucking gatekeepers sprung up and rising costs of this state have made it so only the most elitist of elites can bypass all that shit, and if you happened to be a poor person with the burning passion who somehow got in have fun trying to be the next big director and pitching your idea with all that debt :)
