I mean you're talking about motivated arguments and yeah. A thing about a lot of facts is that they can be true but the reason why someone is stressing a particular fact all the time is because of some biased reason. It's like talking about black people doing crimes, that's not racist by definition or to say that there's a lot of it and it's a problem, but you know the guy who REALLY likes to talk about it is because he's a racist who wouldn't talk about methed-out crazy white people crime because that's in his in-group.

This is why calling people "wrong" usually doesn't lead anywhere. People can still be factual while advancing a narrative that is false, one-sided or uncritical in some sense.
