>its ok to blame people for geocide because they were in shock and denial after the fact?
If they're as assholes and petulant as Luke was, yeah. Luke had done nothing but whine and belittle those around him, including letting his Ambassador title get to his head so much so he was willing to abandon Ion in the mountains. Even then, the group doesn't give him shit directly until he starts making excuses for the death of 10000 people a minute after the entire party sees a little kid drown in toxic poison under the weight of the corpse of his father. They were 100% justified in dropping his ass. Look at Anise. She makes zero excuses. Even though she's 13, even though she grew up essentially indoctrinated into the Church due to her drooling retards parents, even though Mohs was threatening to kill them, she fully accepted from the get go that her lies led to Ion's death and that it was fully her fault. That's why the party more easily accept it. At that point Ion's dead, he has shown his care for her with his dying words ("Thank you... for everything... My most... cherished...", confirmed in the game's guide to be Ion stating his romantic love for her) and she's decided to take it upon herself to reform the Church so the likes of Mohs and Van can't fuck anyone else up ever again. With all that in mind, and given it's not like they can go back in time, she's allowed to remain with the party (and still be depressed in a bunch of following skits).
Compare that situation with Luke going "nuh-uh not my fault" after having been an annoying brat with a punchable face for months.
