I believe that out of all Sonic game characters, Infinite is the one that is rotten to the core. He has no potential as a character at all without coming off as redundant of much better ones, and with the way this series is written, he will never go above the disaster that was Forces.

If anything, any idea that could have been done with Infinite was done with Black Doom's second coming.
