Shooting guns at a range is just OK. You get bored of putting holes into paper after a while. I like it well enough, but if I were restricted to just a bare bones utilitarian AR and a glawk, I would almost never do it.
For me it's collecting and using the firearms together that is fun. And maintaining them, upgrading them, dialing everything in to my preferences, etc. I love taking my own guns to the range but again, if I were forced to use loaners or basic cheapshit I wouldn't like it nearly as much.
Skeet is another story though.
