Yeah for me it was all about the immersion and storytelling, like you can make your own story in a sandbox but RPGs are more geared for a combination of storytelling and making your own adventure.
Ironically, one of the trips I remember is Vegas pretty well, it was a shit hole but the exhibits were really cool. Mind you this was when I was like seven or eight so I don’t remember it too well just the smell of cigarette smoke everywhere and one of the hotels we stayed at called the flamingo. Not sure if that’s still in existence. Also got to see the old Star Trek exhibit they had before that got shut.
Universal Studios was pretty cool too even though I don’t remember a whole lot other than the Jurassic Park water ride, Terminator 3 ride and back to the future ride.
I remember walking around on a World War II battleship and going inside a submarine while we were in San Diego, those might be some of my earliest memories.
We’ve also been to Virginia Beach, Hawaii, Mount Rushmore, and a few other places can’t think of right now.
